System freezing, "Bad page map in process plasmashell"

UPDATE: i’m calling this solved - looks like it was a incorrect memory frequency setting in setup/BIOS … how that got changed i don’t know

suddenly i’m experiencing system freezes with no way to recover other than a hard reset - there have been no hardware changes and this fairly new system was stable for many months prior

i’m seeing many of the following in the log…
