That article is already old, though. It references some old software, and it alludes to the qt libraries not being free (as in freedom), which was only applicable to qt 1.x.

You can easily check if it worked… Open up a terminal and type…
free -m
If your swap file is in use, it’ll tell you how much of it is being used. Or, since you are running Plasma, you could use the System Monitor.
