System doesn't suspend anymore and displays a black screen momentarily

I can’t suspend the machine and apparently ignores my request and asks me to log in again (which I can). But once I log in my external HD is no longer accesible.

journalctl returns:

β–‘β–‘ Subject: Invalid service file
β–‘β–‘ Defined-By: dbus-broker
β–‘β–‘ Support: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/bus1-devel
β–‘β–‘
β–‘β–‘ A service file is a ini-type configuration file.
β–‘β–‘
β–‘β–‘ It has one required section
β–‘β–‘ named [D-BUS Service]. The section contains the required key 'Name', which
β–‘β–‘ must be a valid D-Bus name that is unique across all service files. It also
β–‘β–‘ contains at least one of the two optional keys 'SystemdService' and 'Exec',
β–‘β–‘ as well as optionally the key 'User'. Exec must be a valid shell command and
β–‘β–‘ User must be a valid user on the system.
β–‘β–‘
β–‘β–‘ A service file should be named after the D-Bus name it configures. That is
β–‘β–‘ a file containing Name=org.foo.bar1 should be named org.foo.bar1.service.
β–‘β–‘ For backwards compatibility, we only warn when files do not follow this
β–‘β–‘ convention when run as a user bus. The system bus considers this an error
β–‘β–‘ and ignores the service file.

Please take some time to familiarise yourself with Forum requirements; in particular, the many ways to use the forum to your benefit: including the formatting of posts.

Place that wall of text in the previous post within ``` backtick characters as described in the link below, thanks.

Once that is done, others will more easily be able to read it.

Chaotic Aur is by the way most definitely unsupported. Just saying, might not have anything with your issue, but adds an unknown variable.

So should I reinstall all my chaotic aur packages to another repository and slide off AUR support on preferences??

Consider updating your BIOS; it seems rather old. An updated BIOS will fix security concerns, add new features, and may solve many issues with your machine.

Neither the AUR or Chaotic AUR is officially supported by Manjaro (or Arch). Your system is then in an unsupported state; no support can be offered; there are too many possible unknowns.

Simply turning it off now will not achieve anything, as any complication as a result of installing from unsupported sources, already exists.

That said, another member may offer a suggestion or two, but it’s also possible a Moderator might just close the thread.

All I can do is wish you luck. Cheers.

I’ll update the bios, I actually downgraded it years ago because of some overclocking capabilities, I think. But I don’t overclock anymore, so I’ll update.

Thank you, I think I underestimated the effects of how old the BIOS was. Now it suspends like it used to. Good day.
