System does not detect charger

Hello,

the title says is all. Plugged in or not the charger is not detected and the battery does not charge. I was working some place yesterday, did not update/upgrade anything, this morning I change location, boot it, the battery is just “discharging” with charger plugged in or not.

➜ cat /sys/class/power_supply/AC/online

Discharging

I have seen multiple topics on this similar problem but they does not seem to be applicable to this issue? Did someone already encounter this and help me with that?

Just hoping it is not an hardware issue…
Thanks.

Edit: I tried several power outlets, try several other topics I can find, reboot every time to check, nothing changed. I also tried a power drain as described on Lenovo site.

But when I tried a process found on reddit (I cannot linked it for some reason, so I paste the solution down), it worked.

> Turn on your laptop, unplug charge, turn off the laptop, plug charge and it will start charging.

Not sure what is happening.
I still have a red light near the charger entry but the battery actually charges now.
This issue is solved.

In all cases i know of the charging has little to do with your operating system. At best the OS can tell the charging firmware what are the desired start/stop points.

Most often what you describe is a sign on battery starting to fail. I have seen exact same on a HP laptop with the manufacturer installed windows 8

This is weird, the laptop does not even have 3y…
thanks anyway, changing the battery might be the way to go.

Sometimes you win in the wrong lottery :-1:
