Hello, I’m writing this from my android so I can’t provide any logs, but I’ll try to describe my problem as well as I can.
I’m getting random freezes while doing anything (completely unresponsive PC (Keyboard/Mouse), only the music keeps playing so I have to do a hard shutdown), I tried reinstalling Manjaro (did it literally 8 times today, the installation itself is buggy so yeah) and as far as I can tell - the amount of freezes was constantly the same.
It usually happens more often while I’m playing music on Deezer (tried 3 other apps for Deezer too - freezes still happen)
Last time it happened I had those apps open:
Opera (stable)
Sublime Text (dev - 4.x)
Deezer (aur, community/deezer)
Thunar (not root)
Deezer was playing the music as always, I was building something in sublime and it just froze - that’s it.
I’m running a bit older hardware because my “new” PC died but I don’t think that’s much of a problem, it may be the lack of RAM tho (6GB)
The hardware is, something like, Intel Core 2 Duo, 240gb HDD, 6GB of RAM and nvidia gtx 550ti 1gb vram
What I tried (nothing worked):
ALT + F1-5
(didn’t show up the console)
REISUB
(still didn’t work)
Even magic reBoot (Alt + SysRq + B
) didn’t do a thing, like even NUMPAD toggle was unresponsive on the keyboard itself
I got out of a freeze only once today but I don’t remember what I did, I think that I just clicked random things while it’s been frozen…
I’m a newbie, didn’t have time to study linux because I’ve been trying to fix those freezes for a whole day… But what I remember that I started having freezes after I installed base-devel, yay and other common apps, it didn’t freeze before that
P.S. I have 8gigs of swap, but even now RAM is capped at 35% at full load

What should I do now?
I just turned on my PC, it didn’t freeze last night (last time I booted it) so I do not have any logs (I think at least)
If REISUB doesn’t work, it could be a hardware issue. Either way there’s a kernel panic in that case
Have you tried the NVIDIA proprietary driver? It’s possible it’s an issue with the open source driver.
I installed it like when I posted the comment before yours and It didn’t freeze so far ( I didn’t do anything resource heavy yet tho )
I’ll close the thread if it fixed the issue
If REISUB doesn’t work, it could be a hardware issue.
Windows used to work just fine without any freezing so I doubt that…
