problem is described here (post is locked):

the suggested fix, kwriteconfig5 --file kwinrc --group ModifierOnlyShortcuts --key Meta "", no longer works, nor does manually adding that to ~/.config/kwinrc

This is the normal behavior in Plasma 6. You can however still use it as a modifier key.

And yes, configuration commands for Plasma 5 don’t work in Plasma 6.

thanks for your reply, but what i’m after is how to un-assign the meta key so it doesn’t activate the programs menu

As far as I know, it’s hard-coded that way in the source code. :man_shrugging:

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but you can try un-ticking the Meta entry in System Settings / Keyboard / Shortcuts / plasmashell / Activate Application Launcher.
