There’s been crazy behavior lately. And it only seems to hit the 2nd seat.
1) Black screen while login (since sometime in 2022)
When the computer starts, there is a graphical login at the 1st seat. I log in and everything works fine.
The screen for the 2nd seat remains dark. But with htop it is visible that lightdm is active. In the 2nd seat, when I enter the password for the second user, the desktop is activated on the second screen and everything is fine.
I haven’t found a solution to this yet. So I live with that.
2) Random freeze on seat 2 (since sometime 2023)
When working on seat 2, the mouse and keyboard sometimes seem to disconnect, or the GUI seems to freeze. (But the programs stay active according to htop)
I need to end the xfce session from a terminal at seat1. Then screen 2 goes dark and seat2 can log in again.
This is not good because sometimes work is lost that way.
3) Random screen failure (for maybe 4-8 weeks)
When someone is working on Seat2, the screen goes black at a random time (as if you disconnected the monitor cable). Then after 1 to 5 seconds the screen will resume as if nothing happened. This happens at random times. Luckily not too often.
I was thinking maybe my hardware is starting to fail and I need a new graphics card for 2nd place.
4) Random logouts at seat 2 (for maybe 2 or 3 weeks)
The other issues still exist, but in addition, while you’re working, the screen may go black and you’re logged out. Entering the password will give you a clean new session
This is very bad because work is lost that way.
In the logs i find:
journalctl --system --since -10h|grep nouveau ✔

prior to these lines there is no indication of a problem
