Stuck on manufacturer logo when booting with kernel 6.1

Hello, I’m reaching to you because my computer freezes on the “Dell” Logo when I’m booting with a 6.1 kernel. The main problem is that this does not happens every time.
I have already put “ibt=off” at the end of my grub command line as suggested in a previous post.

Here is my config from inxi -Fza, please note that I booted back to a 5.15 kernel but that the sound isn’t working (which motivated my switch to 6.1 kernels first).

Many thanks in advance for every help you may give me

you dont have installed the nvidia drivers, so that could be the reason:

post output from:
mhwd -l -li

There are already some newer BIOS updates for your device. The current version is 1.13. I recommend playing this one. Depending on the UEFI BIOS version, this can be done under Linux with a USB stick or with the help of the fwupd program and e.g. the GUI GNOME firmware.

I have 2 Dell Inspirons here and they both run fine with the 6.1 kernel.

Hi,

Your forum logo is really nice !

My logo forum is the dove of peace, Picasso

I’ve updated my UEFI to version 1.13, still unable to boot with the normal kernel, but I’m currently using my computer with kernel 6.1 with initramfs fallback, journalctl outputs the exact same error log.

Here is the output of mhwd -l -li :

install the nvidia drivers:
sudo mhwd -a pci nonfree 0300
check if you have still the ibt parameter added:
grep ibt=off /etc/default/grub
if yes, reboot and see if it helped

This seems to work, my only problem is that I needed the opensource drivers to use Wayland and be able to set different scales to my screens. I’ll put your answer as solution tomorrow if I don’t encounter problems until that. A big thanks for your help.

according to the output above:

you were using xorg anyway…

Really strange indeed, it works well, thanks for your help!
