I see Group 13 … GTX 1050 is not properly grouped by the UEFI. So in general, when using GTX 1050 here, the whole group will be blocked for the HOST, what is not very gentle and would make the system unusable.
Group 14 should work with GTX 970…
So in grub:
vfio-pci.ids=10de:13c2,10de:0fbb
in mkinitcpio:
MODULES=(vfio_pci vfio vfio_iommu_type1 vfio_virqfd nvidia nvidia_modeset nvidia_uvm nvidia_drm)
this ensures that vfio_pci is loaded first.
ill convert the ( to "
running xfce
Just to mention:
- MODULES="" ← old method, only there for legacy
- MODULES=() ← new method, is default and will replace the old behavior in the future
okay by accident i did try 2 things at once, both with mkinitcpio regenerated:
one with grub not updated (but the parameter set):
that got me to a responsive system that i could blindly reboot from with the ctrl + alt + f2 thing or whatever the key combination is for that console where you have to login first.
and i think i could login to desktop on manjaro before rebooting, not sure about that though.
But still no gpu output!
and one with the grub updated:
there i got the same result from earlier: unresponsive numlock, no picture and i could not access the console to reboot
were nearing a solution guys, i can feel it!
So the GTX 1050 has no output (no screen)?
if you can do this, then THERE IS A GPU OUTPUT!
If you have a network connection, then you can simply upload terminal outputs:
<command> | curl -F'file=@-' https://0x0.st
remove quiet
from the kernel parameter and you see an output.
yes
how would i do that with no screen
is that an independent advice from what youve said earlyer in the message?
Yes, you see the boot process then and where it stucks and not just a black screen.
- remove
quiet
- add
systemd.unit=multi-user.target
Maybe this works then.
remove quiet from the grub file?
Yes this file mentioned earlier:
(and update-grub of course what I don’t have to mention…)
okay will try
and also add the systemd.unit parameter to the grub file i assume…
okay im back
running it like that only gave me the line :: running early hook [udev]
my theory is that it tried to display everything on the gtx970, which im passing through, so my guess is that the gpu just got turned off by that command and nothing else got displayed anymore.
im talking about a static picture with no movement/new content at all, just that line of text
i got into the console again, i think, but didnt expect it because it was my first time booting like that, so i had to manually reboot because i was in an unknown system state - i could not blindly navigate through the menues anymore.
ive got an idea:
maybe the kernel parameters conflict with my
options vfio-pci ids=10de:13c2,10de:0fbb
in vfio.conf
Same ids, so no.
Kernel Parameter: early load
Modprobe: late load
if i would test something right now, i would choose to test if reinstalling the nvidia drivers works with only one gpu connected (the 1050) would work, together with starting manjaro, still having only one gpu connected, reconnecting the 970 after and trying booting again with the 5.10 kernel.
i think that led me to my “setup” that i had a working second gpu in, with the system just ignoring my 970, not even detecting monitors on that card.
i feel like i have to ask for permission tho, since i did some things on my own earlier and that led confusion about what i already tried or want to do in general.
The nVidia drivers just load themselves on all hardware (autodetect) so that would be a step back.
We’re not a bunch of arseholes, dumbwits N00bs trying to hamper you; we’re trying to help you and as it’s harder to shoot at a moving target, we’re just asking you to stand still, is all…
So, just to be sure, another full inxi
, please and a
mhwd --listinstalled
if you don’t mind.
yeah sorry about my attitude, didnt know how to really adress that topic. English is not my first language…
i know that i just moved too fast to follow, didnt quite know how to put that into words.
