I did remove conky, I did ‘sudo mhwd -f -i pci video-nvidia’ , it ran fine and then I rebooted.
Still the same, gets stuck at _

Other approaches may be checking any config files, such as
cat /etc/X11/{xorg.conf,mhwd}.d/*
Or possibly editing boot options to remove ‘quiet’ so we can see where it fails
