Stuck after sucessful password on login screen

I am using Manjaro Gnome Linux with Kernel version 6.6.

I also have 5.15 installed, but it is affected as well (I don’t use it, but tested it now).

My system is a Legion 15ACH6H with Ryzen 5800H and Nvidia 3060.

The behaviour is that I am greeted with a login screen, I enter a CORRECT password, the spinner starts loading for a bit (as it should) and then it dissapears and it gets stuck there.

If I try mashing my keys, sometimes I provoke it to go back to the user selection screen, but the same behaviour remains after I type the password.

What DOES work is going into tty session and running startx. It starts the GUI just fine (altough a bit laggish compared to normally run one).

I have googled a lot, but didn’t find the solution.

Things I have tried:

  • (re)moving .config and .local inside my user’s home folder
  • Checking gdm status, output:

    Maj 26 16:40:00 nedim-Legion gdm-password][6187]: gkr-pam: unable to locate daemon control file
Maj 26 16:40:00 nedim-Legion gdm-password][6187]: gkr-pam: stashed password to try later in open session
  • Running inxi, output:

Any ideas what else I can try? Any help is greatly appreciated

Have you tried looking for error logs? Eg after causing the issue, switch to a TTY and run journalctl --boot --priority=3 --catalog --no-pager (or boot=-1 if you have to look at the previous boot)

To verify (since it sounds like you intend to launch into X11), on the login screen, is X11 selected (rather than wayland)?
