I think the problem has been around since the major KDE update around March 18.

Has anyone else experienced similar issues?

1. Logout to SDDM/PlasmaLogin and enter a TTY
2. Delete the Cache directory:

rm -rf ~/.cache

3. Reboot

If no improvement, create a new User account to test and verify whether or not the issue persists there.

Yes, but in Arch. I created a new user. The issue was gone. And now seems to be gone in old user as well. :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Same here.
I cleared the cache and rebooted. The problem persisted.
I created a new user account - tested half a day - no problem.
Back to my original user account, and everything’s been working perfectly ever since…strange…

Update:
I celebrated too soon… it just started freeze up again :frowning:
I’ll try to match up the detailed journals…wish me luck

As if by magic.

Yes, same here, so the magical fix was not there. During a plasmashell freeze of almost 15 minutes the log shows:

I have no idea if this is any help … and btw during the freeze alt-space / krunner keeps on running ok.

I have similar entries from plasmashell. icontask (which is presumably my icon-only taskmanager) is complaining that the mainscript is missing?!
It’s also noticeable that the click events aren’t lost. It just seems as though it has to wake up first and then process them.

from my experience, the plasmashell[1648]: DataControlOffer: timeout line correlate with the freezes. but i think they are more the result than the cause

when i query the journal with priority=5, i got this line before the freeze:

bunch of wifi problems and a msg from kernel which scares me.
but sadly i lack the experience, what to do with it :frowning:

@soundofthunder Maybe it makes sense to move this into a separate thread?
