Failed to initialize player

drivers for your graphics card and have not disabled
3D acceleration in display settings.
InitializeEngineGraphics failed

After updating my system to download protonup-qt and installing a new GE-Proton version, all of my games that require proton now open with the error above. They worked no issue before updating and have never needed PROTON_USE_WINED3D=TRUE %command% to run correctly; now, however, they do.

I have went and installed/re-installed all necessary video drivers to check if that solved the problem to no avail:

nvidia-utils
lib32-nvidia-utils
vulkan-icd-loader
lib32-vulkan-icd-loader
vulkan-radeon
lib32-vulkan-radeon
mesa
lib32-mesa
xf86-video-amdgpu
libva-mesa-driver
lib32-libva-mesa-driver

EDIT:
I did check vulkaninfo from info I could find on the matter and i do get an error my terminal hangs on.
ERROR: [Loader Message] Code 0 : loader_scanned_icd_add: Could not get 'vkCreateInstance' via 'vk_icdGetInstanceProcAddr' for ICD libGLX_nvidia.so.0

Not sure what this causes but it may be important, thus I’m putting in.

Do you also have the issue with the Proton versions provided by Steam?

From my testing, yes.

However, I may have solved the issue after removing some drivers, specifically amdvlk related packages I still had for some reason.

Everything works so far, but still not sure why it acted up in the first place, so can’t say if the issue has been corrected.

Update:

While I can’t say this is the solution, it appears removing amdvlk related packages prevents the error from occurring. Haven’t had any problems since.

Your mileage may vary, however.
