Steam not launching The Binding of Isaac: Repentance

Hello, my girlfriend recently decided to switch to Manjaro KDE but it having some trouble with steam. After installing isaac she will attempt to launch it but steam will just say “preparing to launch [game]” until manually closed. We’ve tried remove compatdata, reinstalling steam, using PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1, and we tried to get information through PROTON_LOG=1 but it never creates one. What should we try next? The following is an example output from steam as she opens it and tries to launch the Binding of Isaac: Repentance

Additionally other games in her library will open and install Vulkan shaders, before saying they are running but having no window or visible output from the game.

Any next steps are appreciated, thank you!

Have you:

  • Verified the game works and read reviews on ProtonDB?
  • Tried GE-Proton?
  • Verified you have video drivers and related Vulkan packages installed properly?

There is a report by a user named manolo.texaco who states to have it fixed on Manjaro.

Tried with Experimental but it had the same result. I also tried updating the Kernel as someone suggested in a different thread but that didn’t go anywhere. We made progress using Proton GE, but the game now says its open in steam with no window, sounds, or any signs of life from the game.

Apologies to everyone, but she has decided to switch to Pop!_OS since she remembered steam working on there. I will close this thread, thanks for the help!
