Update all went smoothly, just curious, is there a reason every time the update puts me up on 7.1.4 instead of the LTS?

If you have both 7.1 and 6.18 installed, grub will by default boot the kernel with the highest version number. That’s just how grub was designed.

Also, the option used to exist to have grub save the last-booted entry, but this does not work if /boot is on btrfs, because grub cannot write to btrfs.

The pamac issue — and the workaround — have already been addressed 8 Stable Updates ago

I don’t use it myself, but If pamac is unreliable, why not just pull it out from the distro?

Though octopi doesn’t support appstream metadata (for icons, screenshots, changelog…) and the developer doesn’t want to add it.

It doesn’t work as well with the AUR by default, not showing the list of all packages, and with yay it only shows what we search, not the whole list.

The reason why octopi doesn’t give you the full list of AUR packages is that it was designed to not DoS the AUR. pamac did do that, with as a result that Manjaro users with pamac got temporarily banned from the AUR.

The problem was then remedied by letting pamac use a local AUR cache instead.
