I understand this - i reckon not even an experienced user would expect this. The issue as such was reported repeatedly. However the cause is unknown and hence hard to fix. I reckon the frontend part (notice the pamac cli is impacted just like the gui and the termination happens already during the first stage of the whole update process which is during downloading all the packages - at this stage there wasn’t yet a change to the system) loses the connection to the backend part and closes down as a result. The backend part isn’t impacted and continues the job - successfully unless it gets killed. If one starts a new frontend you see this “waiting for another package manager”. Once I watched the newly started gui getting connected to the backend process eventually - literally took on the update. But then these are only my hypotheses. Pamac’s inventor has the best chance of solving the problem i think 
I’ve noticed this too and am unable to link it to any particular update. Glad you posted this, thought I was imagining things.
I also have been using since the announcement included the notification that users can now migrate - but not because I wanted to, but because by the wording in the announcement made it seem as though one should do so. Luckily I haven’t had any issues with this pre-release package but many others have.
This was the smoothest update I had in a long time! 876 packages updates, one single error in some Python library that I didn’t need anymore anyway, so I just uninstalled that, everything else just worked. I also did some optional cleanup afterwards, but there wasn’t even .pacnew or so. I haven’t even rebooted since then, but have no issues, not even with the graphics driver, I can still start OBS recordings.
I think this misses the point. If new users are having this issue on fresh images and brand new installs they will go elsewhere. Having the 1st experience of a distribution being failure of a critical system component like the package manager means trust is eroded immediately and users will likely not bother with Manjaro in the future either.
This is true. I really want pamac-manager to be the solution - to search and find applications across any sources I enable and to manage updating them all.
Let’s be clear when discussing and use ‘pamac’ to discuss only the cli tool.

I noticed a new behavior when i try to delete file on my NAS (mounted with systemd): it indicates that i can’t send it to trash, i can only delete it without being able to retrieve it.
It only happens with dolphin and no change with nautilus (still able to send it to trash).
Is it a new normal behavior?

Indeed, without installing manually jsoncpp Recoll does not start:

Update report: Everything worked flawless as expected on my main system with KDE edition, using pacman on tty3.
Until the last update (Feb 2026) I did use Pamac (GUI) then for the flatpak updates, but I had five runtime updates hanging in Pamac that wouldnt disappear after the update, constantly notifying me of an outstanding update job.
I was able to get rid of these hanging updates with Bazaar which I installed as flatpak itself.
I just now found out that we have Bazaar in the official repositories too. Is this new, or did I not check properly last time?

A user in other forum has noticed that after this update if not possible to modify some settings of the system panel in KDE Plasma. All the “system” elements are “fixed”: launcher, tray icon area, etc… Software application icons can still be added, removed and rearranged without problems.
I can confirm that in my system there is the same problem. The other user noticed the problem in a new installation after updating. Can someone else confirm? Or are we just missing something? At least I can’t find any mention of this kind of problem anywhere.
It’s a Plasma bug, and it has already been fixed upstream, but the fix is in Plasma 6.6, and KDE upstream regards Plasma 6.5 as no longer relevant.

It was probably a regression because of the fix that Plasma 6.5.6 included for this bug below.
