[Stable Update] 2024-05-13 - Kernels, Plasma 6, Gnome 46, LxQT 2.0, Nvidia, Pacman

Interestingly, I just hit update and it went mostly smoothly. After update (before restart) the taskbar pinned icons were gone and Application Launcher was completely empty. Mistakenly logged out instead of restart and the login screen complained about missing theme and looked weird and honestly I felt little bit anxiously. Then I restarted my computer and everything returned to normal again, apart from few workspace settings which I haven’t customised heavily anyway. And I use Timeshift too.

had the same issue, could you try sudo update-desktop-database /usr/share/applications -v ?

So first I restore to default all of my settings including themes and widgets then update, and if the problem persists I use the command?

No, you can’t update because you added clang to IgnorePkg.

It fixed itself after a few retries.

Thanks for this update.

After the upgrade, I couldn’t get task manager in my panel to display active apps / windows. A simple plasmashell --replace did the trick.

I have one remaining issue : when left-clicking on a systray icon (sound for example), there’s a weird display, but not the one expected. The black dot suggest that it’s something that could be resized, but no effects when trying.

After updating to KDE Plasma6, the links in my applications broke.
Fortunately, deleting ~/.cache fixed it.

Pamac GUI and all other applications crashed during the update when the desktop shut itself down, so I was a bit scared that something could have been broken, but I just waited until the desktop re-appeared.
Then I executed pamac update in the terminal and waited until the “waiting for another update process” disappeared and rebooted the system.

Maybe it helps.
I think it’s safer to upgrade from the command line or even in a TTY session.

Another thing I noticed, is that after the first reboot, whenever i opened an app, it was not shown in the taskbar.
If you clicked on the pinned apps, you were just re-opening it, instead of switching to the already running app.
This was resolved after another reboot. I hope that it doesn’t re-appear.

Edit: Maybe this would have also worked, sounds like the same issue:

Manjaro Settings Manager is still using QT5 and needs updating to QT6, but GUI should still be accessible outside KDE system settings

You may switch directly to the command.

all applications lack mimetipe key, examlpe follows:

Hmm, I don’t see this black dot on my end.
The sound panel opens just fine…

Another issue I have is that I’m not able to boot on 6.9 kernel (my T480 Laptop is stuck on boot on Manjaro logo loading, no way to get in TTY mode), is there a way I can provide useful logs / information ? Not a blocker right now As 6.6 and 6.8 are fully functional.

Same issue here:
It wants to replace krunner5 with some package from AUR:

I just uninstalled it manually, because in my case krunner (6) was already installed.

No major issues after updating. Plasma 5 Event Calendar not working anymore as expected. ;(

One question: Some packages (krunner5, khotkeys for example) have apparently been moved to the AUR. Why is that? Are they no longer used? Can I uninstall them? Thanks!

Yep, I don’t updated yet, but in my case also new krunner will be installed so I assume it’s safe anyway, just more cleaning after update :wink:
