Hey! Just wanted to chime in that I was able to work around the missing keys issue by simply issuing
sudo pacman -Syvv manjaro-keyring
and didn’t have to rm
anything.
And, as noted in the other thread, fixing Steam is easy by opening it, going to settings->account->beta participation, and clicking “steam beta update”.

After the upgrade I was not longer able to use the compositor in KDE plasma. The desktop was very laggy and the system load was very high. This only happens when the external display is attached.
The issue is due to xorg-server which I confirmed by manually downgrading the package to 1.20.13-2 from 1.20.13-3 (for xorg-server and xorg-server-common). With the version 1.20.13-2 everythings works as expected.

agree man. ALL issues here reported regarding laggy graphics is all due to this whole “modesetting war”. Some l33t is arguing against intel driver - and therefore more or less forced modesetting by default. Just because some synthetic benchmarks outperform intel driver and/or someone does not like the code-base of intel driver.
See [patch] add some Debian patches (e3966f2b) · Commits · Packages / Extra / Xorg Packages v1.20 / xorg-server · GitLab
Isn’t this already the default in Fedora, Gentoo, Debian, Ubuntu and others? Would be curious to see if these same issues appear on those distros.
not to get off topic here but there are legitimate reasons to use modesetting rather than intel other than benchmarks - for me on an intel i5 laptop with i915 UHD graphics, i had a real nightmare with tearing during screensharing (a crucial part of my job) using the intel driver and that was fixed by switching to modesetting with no negative impact until now

Hello,
I did both this and the previous update at once, and now I seem to have issues with colors in some applications. The rofi launcher, which was alright, now has a light grey/white color scheme that is very hard to read, and in thunderbird the default system colors that I normally use for mails and the menus are now black on white instead of the previous dark theme.
Any idea how to fix this?
System info:
I think I was using the Adapta-maia-dark theme, and it now seems to be Adapta-nokto-eta-maia.
Using Awesome WM
Pictures of what’s wrong:
Similar issue.
With Rofi update, white text in themes before is now black !

Hey, i’m a little bit clueless: no soundcards detectet anymore with kernel 5.14 in GNOME and KDE (in 5.13 and < it works like charm). Tried to deleting rm ~/.config/pulse/*.tdb ~/.config/pulse/cookie, was on testing and tried a lot of other possibilities, but no, nothing working; now i’m reinstalled system (with Gnome) new - same here. No soundcards detected, only shows dummy (now). Over amixer i get: asound
version-alsa k5.14.0.0-manjaro
cards also recognized (H-DSP / HDA Intel / HDA NVidia)
devices, timers, pcm still present.
I tried to get some inxi data but unfortunately there comes no output at all…
Then, also when i shutdown it takes miles of time and brings me systemd-shutdown sigkill to pid / shutdown waiting of processes pulseaudio messages… that’s all wrong
If someone has a good advice it would be much appreciated
I forgot: tried also with only pipewire / pulseaudio.
With 5.13 on KDE i get with inxi:

the opposite here. I had massive scroll-tearing with modesetting driver. No issues with intel. So it depends.

@areographe have you tried using Triple Buffering ? I find that it eliminates screen tearing with Intel GPUs, combined with vertical sync and/or additional options that may be unique in each desktop environment.
Enable vsync, and then see if adding this file in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ helps with tearing. (You will either need to reboot or restart the display server for it to take effect.)
My contents of /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/99-intel.conf
Section "Device"
Identifier "Intel Graphics"
Driver "intel"
Option "TripleBuffer" "true"
Option "TearFree" "true"
EndSection

All of my problems seem to be linked to a kernel change. All is good now on latest kernel. 5.14 I think? Whatever was being used, (5.13 I am guessing from memory,) left me with a black screen and a mouse cursor after login.
not work for me Steam is allready black with steam-runtime
or steam-native
beta and stable

A post was merged into an existing topic: Manjaro 21.1.2 Pahvo released!
I’m not sure if our issues are exactly the same, but the Rofi part certainly looks similar. For me, starting Rofi gave me errors, and when I fixed that, the theme was weird.
The errors happened because in my keybinding, I passed Rofi some options that… apparently don’t work that way anymore. I moved those settings out of the command and into my config file.
The theme issue was caused by a change in how Rofi handles default themes . Found here , where there is advice that I overlooked, too, in a comment, oops. As I understand it, settings from the default theme were now messing up the theme that I was actually using, and at the same time, I think other parts that were loaded from somewhere before were missing.
I fixed the first part by moving the theme parts to a separate mytheme.rasi
file (for some reason it was all in one) and adding @theme "mytheme"
in the configuration rasi. (For me, those files are in ~/.config/rofi
.) After that, the basic shape and colors were right again, yay. For the second part, I had to look around and piece together what was missing, and add that to my theme file, too. I don’t remember what exactly, but it wasn’t a lot, I was surprised by how painless this was.
