I am getting this in the terminal while trying to update.

First do not share console output like that, edit your post and select text, then click </> button.

Update your mirrors it seem the mirror you use is not up to date.

sudo pacman-mirrors --fasttrack 5 && sudo pacman -Syyu

Stay on 5.8 or use the LTS 5.4. Nvidia has no officially support for the 5.9 yet.

sudo pacman-mirrors --fasttrack 5 && sudo pacman -Syyu selected the same mirror again. And also the mirror check service shows that the mirror is up to date.

But trying to update it shows error failed to retrieve files.

what is the output of uname -m by curiosity?

uname -m

Ok just making sure you were not on Manjaro 32 bits which is not supported :D
then if you’re sure you mirror is up to date, and you’re forcing package database update I’m out of idea for now.

Just a quick question regarding KDE: Why has the package user-manager been removed in this update ? Was there a bug of some sort ?

I can see that user-manager-git is still available in the officials repos.

Thanks!

After I investigated the mirror check service It seems(looking at the date) the mirror is not actually synced. But the manjaro mirror check service is showing up to date.

My hardware audio controller doesn’t show up anymore after the update. It reverted back to HDMI output. Still not sure how to fix it. Rolling back for now.
Cinnamon , 5.9.3-1
Edit, booting into other kernel did not mend the situation. Have done a full roll back to yesterday, and everything is working as it has done yesterday.
Is there anything I can post to help and give more info?

Hold on for your update then, no need to rush, wait for something like 6 hours or more then retry same command I gave you. It is possible web services like the mirror check or the branch compare have bugs. You can also try to force the mirror to something else if you can not wait to rush the update immediately. But now you know, two options, wait for real synchronization, or force a synchronized mirror.

Thanks for the advice. I will wait.

2 possibilities:

  1. Try again in a few hours

  2. Use

    sudo pacman-mirrors --country YourCountry --interactive

That is a manual process and allows you to bypass a mirror that is not updated yet. --fasttrack takes the fastest server, not necessarily the one that updates most frequently

And always, always check your mirrors here as mentioned in the announcement so bookmark that page! Apparently you did already

Update went fine as usual but with kernel 5.9.3 i have heavy display problems

With Kernel 5.8 all works fine

That’s very reassuring to hear, thanks.

The problem with not booting into GUI (graphical login manager) occurred again.

How to investigate ?

Before the last update all worked fine.

Update went smooth, Manjaro KDE with 5.4 lts kernel here.
It all seems fine and somehow even faster than before, thank you Manjaro Team for your great work!

My DELL Precision 3541 doesn’t start after update
It reboot 2/3 times and after shows a BIOS setup
:frowning: I need to reinstall the Manjaro partition without update. (I use Budgie DE and my root and home partitions are formatted in btrfs)

On Thinkpad X230i:
Fehler: Konnte den Vorgang nicht durchfĂŒhren (In Konflikt stehende Dateien)
gdm: /var/lib/gdm/.config/pulse/default.pa existiert im Dateisystem (gehört zu pulseaudio-bluetooth-a2dp-gdm-fix)

Hi,
I get some “exists in filesystem” errors.
sudo pacman -Syyu --overwrite '*'
fixed them.
The ’ of * are needed.
