[Stable Update] 2020-10-01 - Kernels, Mesa, KDE-Framework, Deepin, Systemd, Pamac, Xorg-Server, Qt

After the update, darktable segfaults
darktable:18047): GLib-CRITICAL **: 16:35:24.506: g_variant_unref: assertion 'value != NULL' failed
can somebody confirm?

@beermad, wait for the next update, in testing branch it’s already fixed.

Good news. Thanks.

Hello everyone,
Just wanted to mention in case someone else has this issue: when I rebooted my laptop after this update, the wifi didn’t work. My network manager widget reported something like “no devices found”, and I had an error like iwlwifi: failed to start INIT ucode -110 in my dmesg. Somehow I solved it by rebooting again.

Small issue with the KDE lock screen, the button is very tiny.

Thanks for checking it. Mine still crashes on start even after reinstall, will make a separate thread about it.

xps9550,KDE,linux419, no issues :+1:

I also have this problem. My sym. link to a folder which mounts NAS doesn’t work anymore.

removed event calendar before update as precautionary measure, no problems apparent in restarting after update.

Everything went cool! I guess this is a kernel issue. My machine’s idle temperature was used to around 38-40 C previously. After the update, it is around 43-46 C range. I wish I had stayed at 5.8.6 for sometime more! haha

After updating I can’t see my panel anymore (all I can see is my wallpaper) and the super and fn keys are non functional. I can use alt + space to launch apps, but this is making my computer really hard to use. This is on KDE on all of my installed kernels (5.8, 5.7 and 5.4)

Can somebody help me out? I’ve already tried with pamac install plasma, and running killall plasmashell but to no avail.

Try cleaning your cache:

Update seemed to go flawlessly.

I’ve had three hard freezes since though, one a day for first 3 days AND my keyboard seems to keep ‘pausing’ when typing.

I’m in the awkward position of just having rebuilt/upgraded my desktop PC, about a month ago, so it’s hard to tease out hardware issues vs software update issues.

I think the freezes were due to a poorly seated graphics card - hopefully I’ve sorted that.

The keyboard though…I can be typing away happily and then suddenly it stops responding and several characters are lost, not buffered.

I’m using an Apple extended aluminium keyboard that’s 11+ years old so it might just be dying. Seemed to start after last stable updates though so I’m throwing this out here in case anyone else has noticed the problem. (And watching the journal while I type.)

I’d put money on it being the age of the keyboard except I also have an 18yo Extended Apple keyboard that’s still going strong =D

Using manjaro Gnome stable.

EDIT: Update:
Still have freezes. This time after waking from sleep.
Get this repeated immediately before freeze

Already a kernel bug report (bugzilla id=201517) for a few years so it would appear this is my hardware rather than recent updates.

The update didn’t go as flawlessly for me. I have a problem when login in unrelated to the solutions posted. Created a post for it.
