Spectacle after update

I updated today to latest & Specricle is not the same. When I hit print seceen it says drag to select, but after I do the box with copy/save you know, is gone how do I copy or save, googe says it auto saves, but no file in screenshot folder.

Underneath the box you drag, there are buttons for saving. You should click them.

I don’t see them, but enter seems t bring them up.

Well yes, you first have to press Return/Enter to confirm the size of the box you’ve created.

When you’re dragging the corners of the box to resize it, the actual screenshot has not been created yet, because spectacle does not know whether the size you currently have on the screen is the definitive size, or whether you want to further tweak it. That’s what Return/Enter is for.

Oh  before it just was there without needing to hit enter. Just got use to it.

No, it wasn’t. You always had to do it that way.

One of the Spectacle config options (in the General tab) is Accept on click-and-release - perhaps having that option ticked would be easier for you.

For me, to get a full screen capture, I have always had to use Shift+PrtSc (i.e. hold down Shift and then also press PrtSc), then it saves to my Screencapture directory.

If I want something else, I hit PrtSc alone and the application shows up where I can select different options.

Is this not how it works for everybody else?

Before I had to replace my laptop’s Tuxedo Linux for Ubuntu (updates stopped coming) I could simply press PrtSc and as fast as it repeated, at the same rate screen captures kept coming, a wonderful solution. Spectacle makes a spectacle of this feature and won’t keep up. It’s far too slow. Then again, I have 64 GB RAM on the laptop… 8)

It’s configurable. On my system, I’ve configured PrtSc without modifier keys to take a full-screen snapshot.

Which was the original intention of that key, though the output wasn’t in the form of pwetty graphics as it is today.

When I hit PrScr now I get the full screen with all options displayed…

Accelerators are marked… so it will show 1920x1080, then ‘Accept’ (accelerator is Alt_P, but Enter also works) but the fact that it comes up with ‘drag to select’ is good, because mostly I just want to grab an area.

there are also icons to click at the bottom, so I’m surprised that folks here are saying that those options don’t come up until after hitting Enter…

I’m on testing with Spectacle 6.5.4-1, which is the same for all branches built 9/12/25
