Sound Takes a Second Before Playing

Hi all,

For some reason, when no audio is being played and then I start playing audio from a video, system sound effect, etc. the first 1/2–1 second is lost before the audio starts coming out of the speakers. This only happens to audio played through HDMI (in my case DisplayPort, but shows up as HDMI).

I am using kernel 6.6.47-1 with the latest version of PipeWire.

Please let me know what other info would be helpful!

Whilst this may not necessarily provide a solution, it may help:

inxi -zv8

Is this through direct wiring (speakers, headphones) or via Bluetooth? BT audio is known for a delay in activation (plus a slight delay with respect to other sinks); I’ve experienced this myself.
