Sound disappeared from Dell Inspiron 15

The sound was working fine on my Dell Inspiron laptop (speakers or headphones). I haven’t made any changes except agreeing to the routine Manjaro updates, but there is now no sound.
I am very non-techie, but I notice in other posts the output of inxi is requested, so here is mine:

Would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Sound Server-1: ALSA v: k5.10.84-1-MANJARO running: yes
Sound Server-2: JACK v: 1.9.19 running: no
Sound Server-3: PulseAudio v: 15.0 running: yes

I don’t see Pipewire sound server running. With pamac or pacman, search and install the basic pipewire package first. After installing the basic pipewire, continue to install manjaro-pipewire which is a meta-package for pipewire specific settings on Manjaro.

Note that some of the settings from manjaro-pipewire will disable PulseAudio daemon and will redirect PulseAudio functionality to Pipewire, so you’ll see that PulseAudio won’t run when running inxi again.

If the above method still doesn’t work, install alsa-ucm-conf; There’s a recent bug on ALSA and this package is the patch.

Tip: When pasting terminal output on Discourse forums, one can either…

  • Use the Preformatted text </> toolbar button–NOT the Quote " button.

  • Add three backticks ` above and below the text (Markdown):

    ```
    type or paste code here
    ```

  • Use HTML:

    <pre><code>
    type or paste code here
    </pre></code>

Please edit your post accordingly.

@JiaZhang
PipeWire is not required on Xfce and replacing PulseAudio with PipeWire would make it harder to deal with the issue in ALSA

@raysa
Ryzen Audio Co Processor is not loading a driver, but the drivers are detected as alternates

Device-2: AMD Raven/Raven2/FireFlight/Renoir Audio Processor vendor: Dell
driver: N/A alternate: snd_pci_acp3x, snd_rn_pci_acp3x bus-ID: 04:00.5

I suggest you update system BIOS
Dell Vostro 3405 and Inspiron 3505 System BIOS

and install kernel v5.15
Use Manjaro Settings Manager GUI ( manjaro-settings-manager -m msm_kernel )
OR

sudo mhwd-kernel --install linux515

If audio is still not working as expected, get ALSA information with this command

sudo alsa-info.sh --upload

Thank you. The Dell bios update got the sound back - now working fine. Yippee, and thanks again.
