Slow Wifi Speeds on Intel AC-3168 Wifi

Hi All,

I have an intel AC-3168 wireless device on my MSI AMD motherboard and I am running the 6.4.2-3 kernel. The wifi speeds seem to be quite slow even though I have a super fast 5G wireless network at home with a 900mbps download speeds. The desktop seems to only be able to download at around 65mbps when a work windows laptop sitting right next to it can download at speeds of up to 300mbps. I have searched through and tried various suggestions from this forum including downloading the linux drivers from the intel website and coping it in the lib/firmware location. Has anyone else come across this issue and have any suggestions on what else I should try? I am new to Linux so any pointers would be appreciated.

Hi there & welcome to Manjaro & Linux! The first thing that comes to mind is that you’re running the 6.4 kernel. Is there a specific reason why you aren’t using a long-term, recommended kernel like 6.1? It’s always good to have a back-up kernel, so I would suggest you install 6.1 & reboot - select it & see how your system runs then. All the best, R
