Slow wifi speeds, inxi shows that intel ax200 is down, desktop computer is using stock dual band card

Morning everyone,

I’ve been using Manjaro for about a week or two and noticed that my wifi speeds were less than on my windows partition, runing the inxi-v7azy command shows me the two wifi cards that are installed in my system, becuase why wouldn’t I have two in my cobbled together stack. However, the intel AX200 that I normally use for wifi (stupid wifi 6 router) is shown in a down state and the stock intel card which is still used for bluetooth is handling both but not very well.

I couldn’t find the options to choose between the cards in settings, I’ve tried adding the driver files from intel to the config files themselves and I’ve turned fast boot and secure boot off. I’ve not seen anything on the forum recently that would make me think its a kernel issue but it could be.

Below is my system info from the v7azy commmand. I’ve used linux before but these are my fist steps with manjaro. Thanks for any help you can give.

inxi -v7azy  ✔

Hi and welcome to the Forum :+1:

According to [SOLVED] Wifi very slow - Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless AC 3168 / Newbie Corner / Arch Linux Forums, you need to use wpa_supplicant instead of iw
(Research via a search engine helps) :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

When you mention things like that it is advisable to give concrete data of what you did and where. eg. file contents or program output, so the readers who want/can help you can check if you made a mistake.

Just in case your bluetooth on that device doesn’t work: https://superuser.com/questions/1568192/intel-dual-band-wireless-ac-3168-bluetooth-in-debian-10-dont-work#1568872

Welp, thanks for all your help and the warm welcome. I’ve got this working now so I’ll close it and hopefully if someone has the same noob issues as me they can use this to help.

I have two wifi adaptors, one can’t handle wifi6, one can. if your internet speed is slow, check in the list of networks that you can connect to that you are connecting with the correct adaptor…
such a simple obvious solution, that I didn’t even notice or consider it.

If your wifi worked fine and then stopped working, this could well be the issue
