Hello everyone, I installed Manjaro on my laptop about a month ago and theres one thing thats been disturbing me at time. My manjaro is pretty slow to boot up. I have no idea how to fix this so im here to get some help to the least. Im a newbie and i know some basics of linux. My laptops specs are as following :-
Cpu: Core i3 350m
Gpu: None
Ram: 4 Gigs
Hdd: 300 Gb
I am also dual booting windows 7 with manjaro kde. It takes around 2:30 minutes for me to be able to use my laptop. The partition i installed manjaro on is also a extended partition. i dont know if this has any effect on my boot times. I am also using the zen kernal as my daily driver
Hi @Reyyan ,
Please see:
Also, please provide the output for:

Manjaro kernel that is not.
Reyyan:
18.041s udisks2.service
So this seems to be the service that takes the longest at about 18 seconds. So…I’ve got to ask, how long is your boot time?
Also, please provide the output for:
systemd-analyze

I just rebooted to double check and the login screen loaded up after 45 second and plasma loaded up at 3:50. Here is the systemd-analyze
output:
Startup finished in 6.782s (kernel) + 28.144s (userspace) = 34.926s
graphical.target reached after 27.261s in userspace.
What version of plasma do you use?

This will give all the errors and warnings from your current boot.
Let’s see if that gives us a clue. Because, if not, then I have no idea and we’ll have to wait and hope someone else does.

You can certainly disable ModemManager.
udisks2.service
takes 203ms in my computer.

Will disabling modem manager do anything to my wifi connection? if not how do you do so?
It has nothing to do with WIFI.
You can disable it with systemctl disable ModemManager.service
.
And then systemctl mask ModemManager.service
.
Same with lvm
as with ModemManager
.

I believe lvm is for managing logical partitions but i do have logical partitions on my hdd in which linux is installed into so will disabling it do any harm to it
