Since I updated my system I lost wifi. I use an usb wifi adapter from tp-link (TL-WN725N) which worked without a problem until now. Now it’s not recognized. Well, it’s recognized by inxi and under usb devices, but the network widget doesn’t recognize it.
Solved!: Since I updated my system I lost wifi - #10 by Artopal
Hi, @Artopal ,
Welcome to the forum. I wonder whether you could read this post in order to solve the problem.
‘Cannot connect to WIFI! - #4 by Njfamirm ’.
Hope it help, regards.
Hi, thanks for the help.
That sadly didn’t solve my problem.
I hadn’t any package named 8188eu-dkms
to remove.
I tried the mhwd
command, but to no avail. Wifi is still not working.
What baffles me is this: I didn’t have to install any drivers to make it run in the first place. This wifi adapter was plug’n’play since day one. I put it in and the network manager began to work. Only after the update did it stop working. The adapter is detected under USB devices, but there is now no driver for it under Hardware Configuration.
Weird.
Hi @Artopal ,
I cannot give you a better answer unless you could post the output of the following terminal command:
inxi -v7azy

Sure. Here. And thanks again for the help.

That device has no driver. But there is one for it in the AUR:
$ pamac search 8188eu-dkms
[...]
8188eu-dkms v4.3.0.8_13968-16 AUR
Driver for Realtek RTL8188EUS (RTL8188EUS, RTL8188ETV) WLAN
[...]
So try installing it with:
pamac build 8188eu-dkms
Edit:
As @brahma said, trying different kernels might also be a good idea. And yours:
Artopal:
Kernel: 5.18.5-1-MANJARO
…isn’t LTS. While I’ve personally never encountered it, I have heard that regressions sneak in on non-LTS versions. So that might also be a reason. See
…for more information.
Unknown. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯:

Sadly that didn’t work.
Trying the last LTS also didn’t work.
Oh, well, trying the 5.10 LTS kernel did the trick. With 5.15 LTS and 5.18 the device is just not usable.
Problem solved, I guess.
Thank you all for the help!
