Selecting multiple items with Thunar

Hi,

I installed Manjaro Xfce on a new laptop and I have a problem:

I cannot select several items (files, folders) in a folder or on the desktop using mouse left click+shift.

On my old laptop with Manjaro XFCE I could select a file then go at the end of the files, press “Shift” while pressing the left button of my mouse and all the files between these two selected elements were selected.

On my new laptop this behavior no longer exists.

Thank you for any advice.

Hi @damien674,

Perhaps this helps:

https://docs.xfce.org/xfce/thunar/working-with-files-and-folders#selecting_files

Edit:

According to the Arch wiki:

To configure the keybindings, edit the file ~/.config/Thunar/accels.scm. To configure Thunar’s hidden variables, use xfconf-query -c thunar -l -v.

Who knows? It might b e part of that.

Just checking: do you hold Shift, or do you hold the click?

On my xfce it is not shift, it is holding ctrl , then marking multiple files/folders.

Shift allows to select over a region, while holding control allows for the specific selection of multiple files.

Thank you.

or holding down the Shift key to select a range of files.

Yes, that is what I am looking for. It works on my old laptop but doesn’t work on my new laptop…

I hold shift.

Yes, me too, but I am looking for this behaviour:

or holding down the Shift key to select a range of files.

Which doesn’t work for me.
