Segfault in libQt6Quick.so.6.9.1

I’ve conducted an update and can successfully boot and log into KDE plasma. When loading the session KDE starts switching off/on for couple of times until the screen is completely black. Only the cursor is visible then.

This is my system:

I’d be happy to share the full journal. Should I post it here?

What is going on here? Can someone help?

Should I rewrite the title in order to better highlight the observed segfault of ksmserver-logout?

Title changed for you.

Maybe this will attract some attention, but keep in mind that you posted at the weekend, which isn’t always ideal (the forum seems less busy generally at weekends).

Yes, better too much info than not enough.

Regards.

I have seen a couple of topic with roughly the same description

I specifically note that the system info is generated while using a Manjaro installation ISO - so it is difficult to conclude anything from this - other than your system work.

From your system info I looked for and found

Graphics:
Device-1: NVIDIA GA106 [GeForce RTX 3060 Lite Hash Rate]
    vendor: Micro-Star MSI driver: nouveau v: kernel non-free: 550-570.xx+

Please check what Nvidia recommends for your specific GPU by using the utilities

nvidia-driver-assistant

or

nvidia-recommended-driver

The latter is simply a wrapper around the former and will give you a single clue.

See this for instruction on how to chroot your system [root tip] [recovery] Basic Manjaro Linux Recovery

When you have succesfully entered the chroot environment - please install the driver recommended by the above utility.

some say it might be some widgets crashing it …

https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-138457

Solution: update mesa to at least 25.1.6.

Thanks for the replies.

I could not manage to get rid of these '12’s.

This is about the recommended drivers:

sh-5.3# nvidia-driver-assistant
Detected GPUs:
  NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 - (pci_id 0x2504)

Detected system:
  Manjaro Linux

Please copy and paste the following command to install the open kernel module flavour:
  sudo pacman -S linux612-nvidia-open
sh-5.3# nvidia-recommended-driver
open
sh-5.3# mhwd -li

I’d say the tool recommends the open source driver. Will try to fix this.

You can still boot your real system?

provide the inxi from within that,
rather than from a chroot from a live system

inxi --admin --verbosity=8 --filter --no-host --width

From within chroot, the output will be essentially the same as from without - just unreadable, as you noticed.

Ok, thanks!

The output of inxi is already posted above. I think I misunderstood @linux-aarhus. My bad, sorry!

I can only boot into live system. Then I changed the driver to open like this:

[manjaro /]# mhwd -li

I can reboot until I stuck at a black screen now. This is different than the original behaviour, where I was able to login.

Both the inxi outputs you posted are obtained from a live system - not from the real one.

… black screen?
You can’t switch to TTY?

If you could, you could use the same approach as you already used:
generating the output and posting it to 0x0.st (for example) and sharing the link.

This is a good idea: :flushed:

https://0x0.st/8dnZ.txt

Same story, but different:

systemd-coredump[857]: Process 844 (sddm-greeter-qt) of user 964 terminated abnormally with signal 11/SEGV, processing...

… but that was not inxi output - it was the journal log again

You could also - if you can get to a TTY - disable sddm (temporarily)
in the hopes that you then end up directly in a TTY after boot

systemctl disable sddm.service

There are other ways to boot to single user mode or without starting the graphical target.
(by editing the grub command line …)

Here you go, with hopefully better inxi-output: https://0x0.st/8dnV.txt

Is this ok now?

It is the output you where asked for, yes.
Thank you.

Now, @linux-aarhus recommended some things.
He knows what for and can interpret the result - I can’t.
I do not have an NVIDIA GPU and know literally nothing about it, except to steer clear of those whenever I can. :grimacing:

Could you please confirm, that I inferred and installed correctly?

My installed version matches the requirement:

… the easy way is not to do it from within chroot …

I’m about to investigate where that strange, although quite consistently distorted, output results from.
Maybe I find something, maybe not.

Or do you happen to know how these not really random 12 come about?

These links are not intended as possible fixes; but, to indicate similar issues which may have the same root cause;

It’s an annoyance that has been lingering for quite some time. :man_shrugging: It seems to happen with a fairly limited amount of systems, but that’s a long way from being definitive.

hm - I know.

mhwd-kernel -i something
doesn’t work either in chroot …

I don’t remember any similar “problem” from earlier, using other, more “manual” methods to enter chroot.
I’ll look - maybe I discover the reason.
Likely not - I’m not that good. :grinning:
But still curious.

This might get overlooked, therefore I post it here explicitly again. It is neither captured from live system, nor from chroot, but after normal boot by switching to tty:

Thanks for the clarification! I am trying to understand the similar issues but cannot draw conclusions.

from chroot rerun the update:
pacman-mirrors -f 5 && pacman -Syyu
if there are errors post the output here, if there are no errors and you are up to date, post output from:
ldconfig - (this should return nothing)
ls /etc/X11/* /etc/modprobe.d
pacman -Qm
