While using Manjaro KDE Minimal Stable, before the login screen, today I got:
Configuration file “/var/lib/sddm/.config/sddm-greeter” not writable. Please contact your system administrator.
The root cause is that .config
is owned by root
, instead of sddm
.
Work-around:
sudo chown -R sddm:sddm /var/lib/sddm/.config
Got this one today too. Thanks for the fix!
Worse than the problem itself is the ‘windowsy’ message to contact your system administrator, I assumed the message which itself should be considered a bug is printed by sddm but I cannot find the string in the sddm package. Any idea where that message might be coming from?
