I have been trying to get an old and underpowered windows tablet to work:
terra mobile 1062
Intel Atom x5-Z8350
Intel integrated graphics
When installing cinnamon or any other DE with the lightDM diplay manger the installation works fine.
On Gnome however the screens remains active for about 5 seconds until turning off. I can then unlock the screen for another 5 seconds and so on. This is regardless of power settings or what I do.
For Plasma it does not even turn on after the login screen.
This issue is happening regardless of distro.
For Gnome: it works flawless on the live-system and only turns unusable after hard installing.
The screen is not recognized at all. However the touch recognition always works.
External screens that are connected via mini hdmi do not have this issue and stay activated.
If you wish support you need to disclose essentials of your system by posting output of
inxi -Fza
Maybe you are lacking of RAM.

Here we are, 4GiB is small, not necessary too small but a reason to choose a distro with small RAM consumption.
