Screen turns black whenever I try to switch users

Hello same problem here, the screen just turns black whenever I try to switch users, I can’t even restart or shutdown the system I have to press ctrl+alt+fx in order to be able to restart or shutdown the system. Is this a KDE bug?
BTW “start new session” is able in both users.

I will provide the info as soon as I get home, however I think It’s the same problem/topic described here: System freezes when switching users - #12 by soundofthunder
First I made sure Start with an empty session option was enabled

However As NickTouik described is his post

  1. Logging in as user A.
  2. As user A, switch user → Brought to the login screen → Select and log in as user B.
  3. black screen.
  4. Press ctrl-alt-F1 or F2 and It takes some time to be able to log in in terminal session… sometime its not even possible and I have to press different Fx keys to switch back to user A and try to restart or shutdown the system, if it’s not frozen
    I can log in perfectly with user A or B, the problem is when I try to switch between users. I don’t know if my english let me explain the problem clearly

It looks like this might indeed be the result of a KDE bug, as mentioned by @Aragorn in the previous thread.

Good news: The KDE bug seems to have been fixed.

  • 500038 Attempting to switch user via Kicker caused Plasma Shell to crash

Bad news: It’s fixed in Plasma 6.4.0 – you might have to wait a little bit longer before you can reap the benefit.

In the meantime, I suggest using the workarounds mentioned in the thread you referenced; it’s only a temporary inconvenience.
