Just installed a fresh copy of Manjaro, and I immediately noticed that the screen seemed way to dark despite the brightness being maxed out. When I restarted the system, the login screen was the normal brightness, but it went back to being dark as soon as I signed in. It also flickers whenever there is white on screen.

This is a known bug in Plasma 6.7, related to the screen dimming. It will be fixed when Manjaro gets the next Plasma release. The only way around it for now is to disable the dimming.
Unfortunately, I cannot tell you when the next Plasma update will arrive (in Manjaro), but if you are impatient, then you can always switch to the Testing branch and see whether it too still has the issue. Manjaro Testing currently has Plasma 6.7.5, while Manjaro Stable is still on 6.7.4.
sudo pacman-mirrors -a -B testing && sudo pacman -Syyu
My automatic screen brightness seems to work fine most of the time.
