Screen fragmenting problem

So my screen is constantly doing this weird thing where it is constantly glitching out but I have no idea why it does this. I can still use it but it is concerning me, the thing is if I turn off and turn on my computer the glitching stops but eventually it starts doing it again.

Looks like a video problem. The usual suspects are nvidia, wayland, mesa. Start with providing us some technical information about the installed versions, a.k.a. your INXI (see below)

Welcome to the Manjaro community

As a new or infrequent forum user, please take some time to familiarise yourself with Forum requirements, and the many ways to use the forum to your benefit.

To that end, links are provided (below) - Please use them.

Be prepared to provide outputs from various commands when asked. It’s equally important to provide as much actionable information as possible in your first post, rather than simply indicating there is a problem.

Waiting for someone to blindly ask questions is also counter-productive – typically, nobody has a :crystal_ball: at their disposal – Instead, please help others to ask informed questions, based on information you provide.

Update Announcements

The Update Announcements contain important information and a Known Issues and Solutions section that should generally be checked before posting a request for support.

System Information

While information from *-fetch type apps might be fine for someone wishing to buy your computer, for Support purposes it’s better to ask your system directly; :eyes:

Output of the inxi command (with appropriate parameters, and formatted according to forum guidelines) will generate information useful for those wishing to help:

inxi --filter --verbosity=8

or the short form (preferred):

inxi -zv8

Ya sorry I’m a new user on this site and have only made one other post on this site. I’m also new to Linux in general

I do have a question about the (inxi -zv8) command, when I plugged it into the terminal it outputted several “hundred” lines, including links and info on my computer(specs). should I just paste the things like the kernel version?

I’m using Wayland but with integrated graphics.

Just paste everything in the code tags (button </>).
You probably have many mirrors installed, that should be the links i guess, if that is the case you can cut the mirrors below the second one. But the rest is indeed needed. Like this

Try disabling some power save features by adding this to the kernel parameters:

i915.enable_dc=0 i915.enable_fbc=0 i915.enable_psr=0

Just in case Pete in not so long in the linux world since we do not know that:

sudo nano /etc/default/grub

Move the cursor to your boot line after …quiet splash udev.log_priority=3, paste the copied parameters from above with ctrl+U, exit with ctrl+x, answer yes to save and then

sudo update-grub

and reboot

It gave me an error message twice. first time I placed this line “i915.enable_dc=0 i915.enable_fbc=0 i915.enable_psr=0”
right below the “quiet splash udev.log_priority=3” line. the second it time I put it below GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=“”. still gave me an error, did I put it in the wrong spot?

Paste it…

…but on the same line…

and make sure there is a space (not a line) before and after the pasted parameters. Ensure that nothing else in the line is accidentally erased in the process.

Example:

 quiet splash i915.enable_dc=0 i915.enable_fbc=0 i915.enable_psr=0

That worked

Disabling the power save features worked?
So, your issue is now solved?

let’s mark the appropriate post as the solution then, shall we?
