Scanner support

Just spent ages trying to get my Brother scanner to work. After all the kerfuffle of adding all kinds of stuff related to Scanners and Brother, I finally installed the ‘Scanner-Support’ metapackage and Bingo!
Thats all it needed.

So basically, it made you install SANE packages.

:ok:

No, Sane was already installed along with various scanner Gui. Just nothing worked until I installed the meta-package. Its a shame there wasnt a more foolproof (me proof!) way to achieve scanner support.

Out of curiosity, was one of the GUI’s simple-scan. It has a dependency for colord-sane. And the AUR scanner-support pkgbuild, shows:

Not in the list above, is xsane and xsane-gimp (File | Create).

Brother has excellent driver support for Linux (https://support.brother.com).
