S/PDIF Audio device not recognized

My S/PDIF speakers are not usable, despite being connected at all times.

However, If i run the pacmd list-cards command in the terminal, the device shows up just fine.

I tried following some steps to resolve the issue at the pulseaudio troubleshooting page in the archwiki, but i’m pretty new to linux, so i got lost pretty easily. Any help is appreciated!

What does audio-setting say?
With manjaro and kde the sounds output tends to jump to the hdmi or displayport monitorspeakers (which have none so complete silence)

Are S/PDIF speakers connected to system via 3.5mm jack (orange); RCA phono socket or optical output?

Please post response to pacmd list-cards

And also information about ALSA audio settings

amixer -D sysdefault

Onboard audio device does have a profile for S/PDIF output

output:iec958-stereo: Digital Stereo (IEC958) Output (priority 38268, available: unknown)

but active profile is set to output:analog-stereo

I suggest changing PulseAudio Profile in audio GUI controls, or use this command:

pacmd set-card-profile alsa_card.pci-0000_2f_00.3 output:iec958-stereo
