extra/ryzen_smu-dkms 0.1.5-5

Is anyone using this module?
I’m thinking of deleting it if it’s unnecessary.
Since it no longer uses.

I have a ryzen 5900x.

It seems that it has been installed for about a year.

I have never heard of it. I am running Ryzen 5800H. I don’t imagine that it would be required by anything on your system . I would check first and if not required, remove, reboot and see how it goes.

These are codenamed vermeer and cezanne respectively and both are supported by ryzen_smu-dkms.

The question is … do you want/need access to the System Management Unit (SMU)?
It is not required for the normal operation of your system.

I used it to check the effect of settings such as PPT and TDC, but in my case, the default settings seem to work fine. It doesn’t affect the general public.

I’m more concerned about the presence or absence of AMD_STATE and the mode.

I live in the northern hemisphere, so when it gets cold I don’t worry about CPU heat, and I don’t put a heavy load on it in the first place. (laughs)

Thank you. I took a look at the gitlab page for ryzen_smu and I don’t think I will be trying anything regarding the System Management Unit as I have my system working fine.
