Resume from suspend results in system shutdown

I recently re-install Manjaro Gnome 22.1.0 on my Desktop PC. Then did a BIOS update.

Now I am experiencing a weird issue where my system shuts down quickly upon resume from suspend. I reset my BIOS settings to default before and after I did update. Able to wake up PC by moving the mouse, it just shuts down on it’s own afterwards. Was working previously.

Version of my BIOS prior to the upgrade was F36. I am now on F37b. ( X570 I AORUS PRO WIFI )

This is my inxi output:

If useful mine is a System76 Thelio model.

How can I prevent my computer from shutting down when it wakes from Suspend?

That is not going to work as is small. Swap file or partition needs to be at least equal to the RAM, or at most double the RAM the system has. See Swap - ArchWiki

I also recommend to go trough Power management/Suspend and hibernate - ArchWiki

Please provide a log when it last happened.

The swap file is much too small but for suspend, it’s no problem.

The system installer (Calamares ?) chose the size of my swap file. I selected to use a swap file instead of a partition when I went through and installed Manjaro. Thought the swap file changed in size on-the-fly as needed? The computer suspends to ram but shuts down when I attempt to wake it.

How do I provide the relevant log requested by @mithrial ? Which one should I get and how?

I have been reading through the two ArchWiki topics you linked.

No, it will have one size as you define it. Maybe some related issue with calamares with default size as discussed here Swapfile - increase standard size from 512MB to ... · Issue #1722 · calamares/calamares · GitHub

There is the swapspace in AUR but i do not think is dynamically resizing, but rather creating more swapfiles of certain size. Never tested it as per their conclusion “not a good choice for systems that need to remain responsive at all times”, but you can learn more about it here. Swapspace — swap file manager for Linux

I prefer to use zram-generator

I went back to my previous BIOS version F36 . Suspend to ram works again. Perhaps the newer BIOS version has an issue I should report?

Will attempt to enlarge my swap file.

Please don’t mark my thread as solved yet. Will probably need further help. I don’t want to stay on older BIOS forever.
