Restoring a snapshot keeping my files and preventing update errors

UPDATE
I have a snapshot created at 1/5/2022 with a kernel version of 5.13

It’s basically a snapshot of my entire system however I can’t restore it because I have a lot of new files in multiple directories.
Is there a way to restore it and keep my new files?

  1. I had an idea of creating a snapshot for the current system. Then I’m going to copy all the folders in my root directory except the home directory (So thats /bin /lib etc…). And copy all of them to my current system and replace all of them. (Although I think this is gonna cause a LOT of problems )

  2. Maybe I can copy my entire home directories to a flash drive then restore the snapshot? I don’t have a flash drive that big so I’ll have to cut corners. So if I restore the snapshot then update how can I prevent the same problem from happening again.

You are using EXT4. How did you take a snapshot? Do you mean the snapshot like full backup?

I think that is a good option.

Yes.
Using timeshift . When I go to /timeshift/2022-5-1/localhost/ Its a perfect copy of my system
tbh my problem is not with how I’m going restore my files. I distro hoped a lot so I’m kinda familiar with that. I’m just scared of having another problem with updating and then I’m gonna have to do that all again…
I think the safest option is to backup my home folder. Reinstall Manjaro from a usb stick. And hope for the best.
