Replacing a hard drive that has home folder and swap partition

The hard drive now does not have much empty space and I was wondering if I can replace it with a new bigger hard drive.

On a live session, I would just connect the new drive, clone the 1TB drive to the new 2TB drive .

Clone the partition table/scheme Save the partition table of your current installation: sudo sfdisk --dump /dev/sdX > sdX.table Write the saved partition table to the new disk: sudo sfdis…

Afterward, you can expand the space on the new drive with gparted for example. Disconnect the old 1TB drive and boot normally.
