RE: [WIKI] Manjaro Linux Wiki unavailable

F*** you AI industry!

Was it an Mediawiki instance? Which CMS?

Until it is fixed, a small hint: the internet archive remembers all:

Yes - it is based on mediawiki - but as there was no official mediawiki container and there is no documentation - the customization is unknown.

What is known

  • one container for the mariadb database
  • one container for the web

We need one more container. The honeypot to direct and capture all AI traffic. Let them scarf the random document generator forever. Better yet, let them feed on their own output.

Is it not an idea to, temporarily, setup a new MediaWiki instance, not containerized, to use while this setup is being figured out?

It is a known issue that the wiki craps itself on the regular.

We hope to migrate the wiki over to a static site generator, and give the content a big update while we are at it. This will be done after the Manjaro e.V. has been founded and relevant infrastructure is migrated over to it.

ARE YOU JOKING ? so you wanna fix it “when manjaro e.v. is founded” ? When will this be ? any schedule ? has anyone of you thought for a moment what damage is created if something essential like the wiki is down for months ? a distro that isn’t able to run its wiki is so poorish and destroys every image left. oh yes, we will start if,if,if…
and btw. i don’t believe that this manjaro e.v. has any chance to exist unless philm would release a official statement to hand over manjaro in the hands of others but that never happened till now.

Given that we are at the mercy of other people’s planning — lawyers do have their own schedules, you know? — it is impossible to make any statements in that regard other than that “we’re working on it”.

For crying out loud, don’t be such a drama queen.

The Arch Wiki contains a lot more information than the Manjaro Wiki, and it is still available to people actually looking for information.

Philip is not opposed to our plans, and everything will be properly handled to every party’s satisfaction in proper time.

P.S.: I would advise you to take a course in anger management, instead of flying off the handle at every chance you get.

you should have known this before acting. it’s like everywhere, you need a plan and a strategy before start acting. that’s fundamental.
btw.: i don’t need a course in anger-management nor i’m a drama-queen.you’ve got a total false impression.
it’s not anger, it’s critic about wrongdoing. and now back to the topic. you wanna leave the wiki closed until

Sometimes the circumstances force one’s hand and one has to act with urgency. You were — and still aren’t — in our shoes, so you don’t understand the situation.

Olli, i think Dennis said as a future plan. The current situation will be of course patched to survive until then. No need for frustration bothsides.

i already pointed out my view but this isn’t about opinions. leaving the wiki closed until you did your beef with phil is rubbish. the last agreement, as i understood was ‘business as usual’ regardless of your internals. shutting down the manjaro-wiki is the total opposite of it and damages the image more than you’re thinking. it’s beyound you’re tactical games, it’s about the users and the credibility that is lost.

The fact that you are accusing us of such is what’s rubbish. The Wiki isn’t closed; it’s under a DoS attack by an A.I.-training botnet, and we are trying to get it back up.

The Wiki isn’t being shut down. Stop lying.

One more time, stop lying, or we shall be forced to silence you (again).
