Razer 15 Goes to sleep whenever it is plugged in or unplugged

Strange little issue I’m having. Whenever I plug in or unplug my charger the laptop goes to sleep. I had journalctl running while i unplugged it and got the following output

You can see that at 16:11:11 I unplug the AC power and it just goes to sleep for some reason. Does anybody know why this happends? I included some of the boot up process as well if that says anything to people who know what they are looking for. Thanks in advance!

Edit: I guess I should also say that im on Linux 5.7.14-1

Hello,

can you check your power settings under system settings and see what the sleep values are? You may have to up the time the computer goes to sleep.

So I tried updating some of the power settings in Settings >> Power Management. I noticed that the computer goes to sleep whenever I make a change and hit Apply. I tried setting all the settings to be the same, switching screen off after 20 min and going to sleep after 25, but the problem persists.

Well, I don’t have any other suggestions, other than do a search via internet and see if this is a ongoing issue with the laptop itself.

I’m having both of OP’s issues as well. When I unplug the power cord on my late 2017 Stealth with Manjaro KDE 20, it freezes and makes the “unplugged” sound over and over about 10 times, and then goes to sleep (or hibernates?). Sometimes when I wake it up, it goes to sleep a second time immediately. And whenever I hit Apply in Power Management, the computer immediately goes to sleep.

Any help would be much appreciated, it destroys my workflow whenever i need to move my laptop.

Setting the “When laptop lid closed” to "Do nothing in Energy Saving settings seems to have fixed it. I also set “When power button pressed” to “Do nothing” so that could be it too.

Confirmed. It’s the laptop lid closed setting. Setting it to “Sleep”, the computer only goes to sleep and makes the unplugged noise once. On Hybrid Sleep it makes the noise many times. It’s ok to set the Power Button action, that is not related.

Set the Laptop Lid Closed setting to Do Nothing on the Battery tab and it fixes it. Unfortunately you can’t have a close screen action then, but at least it doesn’t break unplugging it.

I had the same problem and fixed it by downgrading the kernel to the lts version.

Not sure what that specific LTS kernel version was (always good to specify the exact version, as they change with time), but I did find another solution (works with Razer Blade 2016), which is to edit /etc/default/grub and append button.lid_init_state=open to the GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT variable.

For example, my line was:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet apparmor=1 security=apparmor udev.log_priority=3"

and now is

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet apparmor=1 security=apparmor udev.log_priority=3 button.lid_init_state=open"

(for those of you not used to scripting, make sure you append the parameter inside of the double quotes).

Then run:
sudo update-grub

Then reboot.

I was having the same problem with my 2020 Razer Blade 15 Advanced going to sleep when plugging in and unpugging. It would also randomly go to sleep infrequently when I was using it and it would often go to sleep when switching the GPU with optimus-manager. I just tried @alexdm 's recommendation. I’ve only been able to test the pugging/unplugging and optimus-manager cases so far but it seems to be working. I’ll report back if the problem resurfaces.
