I installed manjaro xfce about tree weeks ago and so far i received about tree updates. One update was for signal, one for brave and i don’t remember the third. Is this normal, because compared to vanilla arch install this is very low amount of updates? Not that i am complaining, because i prefer fewer updates, I am just curious.
Larger updates tend to be available on average every month (or so), while other updates might be more often.
The big “it depends” usually applies, but can vary month to month ![]()
Hi @ivo1467,
Yes, it’s normal. Those updates were probably from the AUR, not anything official from Manjaro itself, as any package updates from Manjaro would have been a bigger batch.
See here for more:
@ivo1467 you may want to switch to the testing branch, for more frequent updates: Switching Branches - Manjaro
Stable branch usually has 2 or 3 major update releases per month, but not always

Unlike Arch, Manjaro is a curated rolling-release distribution. This means that the community will conduct more thorough testing via the Unstable and Testing branches before the packages end up in Stable, and these updates are then always bundled together for the Testing and Stable branches.
Certain packages are however fast-tracked with urgent bug fixes and/or for security reasons — e.g. browsers, archlinux-keyring, pamac, et al — and those will be the individual package updates you see appearing in the time between the bundled updates.
In order to keep track of the evaluation and testing process, as well as in order to know what caveats to expect with the bundled updates, we strongly recommend that you would subscribe to notifications for the Announcements > Stable Updates category, and preferably also for the Announcements > Testing Updates and Announcements > Unstable Updates categories.
