Puzzled by Pinta

Very inexperienced with anything other than gimp, Pinta seemed a good choice for getting into a bit of image design, but I’m down at the first hurdle: how to change the default canvas size measurement, which is in pixels. Is Pinta only intended for web design? If so, and there’s no option to resize in millimetres, can someone recommend a similar application more oriented to print media? (Inkscape is ott for what I need.)

Install Krita. You can create documents in mm, cm, dm, in, pi, cc, pt and px … custom or from templates, for print with or without color profiles, print proofing etc …
