I just performed a nuke and pave on my laptop which included Signal (signal-desktop 7.21.0-1).
While attempting to link my phone to the laptop, I get the error message:
Something went wrong!
Update Signal on this device to link your phone.
and two buttons options appear:
Click to go to signal org download or Quit
Software version: 7.21.0 production
My question: Has anybody experienced this and does anyone have a recommendation on how to fix this?
I don’t use signal, but the version in the stable repo may be too old (in relation to the one on your phone).
More recent versions are in the testing and unstable branch repos.
Well, you should update Signal. (The current version is 7.26.0)

I’m on the testing branch on version 7.24.1-1 and experience no issues.
Stable is on 7.21.0-1, using something other then the repo version might be an option eg: flatpak.

Hey everybody,
Thank you all for the guidance. As it turned out, I migrated from stable to testing and Signal was upgraded to 7.24.1-1 which did the trick. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.
