Problem with draftsight Installation

Hello there, I’ve been using Arch since 2012 and recently I gave a chance to Manjaro, but in the migration lapse I’m having a problem with Draftsight.

When I was running yay as usual, the code looks like these:

 ~ >>> yay -S draftsight

Any ideas?

Looks like an error with the AUR package. I’m just guessing, but there might have been changes upstream of the AUR repo, meaning that the source download link is no longer valid. Could be worth checking the the AUR page and seeing if you can download anything in the source links area. If this is the case then leave a comment on the AUR repo for the maintainer. Most people are generally friendly and will try to rectify issues.

I’ve just been looking around on the internet and can’t find any free or Linux downloads available for draftsight. Not from Solid Works anyway. It’s possible that either Linux support may have been dropped, or the company may have moved to a different business model for their software. Either way, the main source download link in the AUR package appears to be dead.

Yes, it was dropped. I’ve been using CorelCAD under CrossOver as an alternative. I got it really cheap from Humble Bundle. Unfortunately, at the moment there’s no Linux free software to work on 3D dwg files.

Linux support for Draftsight has been terminated

The download is no longer available, looking at the AURWeb comments https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/draftsight/ it is possible to download from ipfs.io or webarchive

and is said that the license expired on December 31, 2019

Thanks, if the repo is passed away I shall need to find another solution. I shall practice with qcad, it’s surpassing my expectations, so, I’m going to put as solved this post.
