I’m using Manjaro KDE Plasma Stable and I have all the updates up to date. My laptop has a Display Port and my TV only has HDMI so to connect my laptop to the TV I use a cable that has a Display Port on one end and an HDMI on the other end
At first when I connected it I got several errors in the image on the TV. After making several adjustments I eliminated several errors and I was left with only one: a bug that makes the user interface elements on the TV look too small and even modifying the “image scale” settings can’t solve the problem. I can’t fix this problem. I’m going to show you a photo where you can see my problem and if you can help me find the solution I’ll be grateful.
You should be able to scale the panel and its contents via right-clicking an empty area and adjusting its height: Show Panel Configuration gives access to the height setting.
Then, right-click near the ^Show Hidden Icons and select Configure System Tray and you can set the icons to scale with panel height.
Hopefully this should work; I don’t have a high definition display to test it on.
See where my mouse pointer is; adjust the value accordingly (probably about 150 or so with a HiDPI display) and then try the scaling-to-panel-size part.
If you right click where my pointer is, you should get the menu? Just to the right of open programs but left of the “System Tray” icons.
I know the panels are a bit finicky about where you can click on them to make adjustments.
For the next part, you need to right-click where the ^ is.
This is, of course, assuming you have the Icons-and-Text Task Manager or something similar. I’ll have to more closely examine your photo to try to determine that.
Right-clicking on an unoccupied part of the Panel where your apps reside will reveal which one you are using. To do this click just to the right of the application tab in the Panel (left of where my pointer is). You’ll see a couple more options.
You are using KDE.
Did you select Wayland or X11 as screen during log in?
X11 requires a reboot to change the resolution and scaling. It works directly on Wayland.
My former ZBook with Display port was working flawless on external screen. I used a regular HDMI-HDMI cable with a simple adapter on one side. Never had issues with it. Even audio was transferred
