Problem booting manjaro after updating kernel. computer booting into another drive instead

after updating kernel, something peculiar happened. when i rebooted the computer, i would see a blinking cursor. out of desperation, i began to check bios for the boot drive and noticed that manjaro’s drive is absent from either the primary or secondary boot option nor can i choose it from there. however, when i reboot the computer and press f12 for boot options, i could see manjaro’s hard drive listed and upon choosing it, the computer would boot normally as before.
so the problem lies in bios unable to see the manjaro’s hard drive for some reason. if anyone have a fix, i’d appreciate it.
