Playing videos in browsers extremely slowly

On any website that includes videos, playing video is extremely slowly on my machine - both for FF as for Chromium. Slow meaning like 1 frame every ~7 seconds.
This had been working fine, but after an update some time ago the issue suddenly appeared, and I couldn’t resolve it until now.

Downloaded videos work fine with player apps, like VLC.

Any help is highly appreciated!

You seem to have a much more capable system than me but, I see some playback stutters on my PC due to low RAM (when played in high resolution)

I started using Zen Browser, which handles everything much soother, even smoother than Firefox, even though its a fork of firefox…

You may have to check your RAM if something wrong with it?

Some system information would be very useful, as the issue could be caused by any number of things. Please provide the output of:

i think configuring video acceleration is due (sorry havent read the entire thread). and by that i mean i think you only need vulkan support enabled and that is it on AMD based graphics.

The last 20 lines then repeat about 50 times; video does not progress at all.

I’m shortly before giving up, and doing a complete re-installation of the whole manjaro system; when I’m running a live system from an usb stick, video is working fine…

Have you tried with a fresh user account? Maybe it’s just something in your main account’s firefox profile that’s messed up.

vulkan-radeon is installed. Output of vainfo

just merely having vulkan installed and setup is not sufficient, please refer the section of archwiki, (you might have to refer the entire page where relevant, if you are unlucky as i were to get this sorted)
