Play Audio Files By Clicking Thumbnail?

Is there a way to enable a feature so that I can simply click a play and stop button on the thumbnail of an audio file so that I can preview an audio file without having to open a music application to do so? I seem to remember Ubuntu having this feature and I know that OSX has had this feature for a while.

Open Dolphin then press F11, you can select any file and click the play button:

You can even right click on the information panel and configure it to play on hover:
